Bottle Depots in Nanaimo

In Nanaimo, recycling bottles and cans is an important part of our community’s effort to reduce waste and preserve the environment. It’s also a great way to put extra money in your pocket!

All refundable containers have a deposit refund value of 10 cents, which means you earn money for each bottle you return. Additionally, milk containers can be returned for a refund.

Sorting reguirements have been simplified:

• All PLASTIC containers can be mixed together – they do not have to be separated by size or type. Plastic alcohol and non-alcohol can be in the same section of the sort.
• All GLASS containers can also be mixed together – glass wine bottles, liquor bottles and juice bottles of all sizes can be in the same section of the sort.
• BEER bottles – domestic beer bottles still need to be separate from imported beer bottles.
• CANS – alcohol & non-alcohol beverage container still need to separate from each other.
